Environmental Policy

Environmental Policy“PA forests are growing at least 20% more volume than is lost each year”.

Long before the "Green" movement, Bingaman & Son Lumber, Inc. owners and employees worked hard to promote healthy, prolific forests in Pennsylvania. Since about 70% of Pennsylvania forest lands are owned by private, non-industry landowners, Bingaman Forestry teams work tirelessly to follow proven Sustainable Forestry Initiatives "Best Management Practices". The fact that for decades, more timber is growing in Pennsylvania than is harvested, proves that SFI works. Bingaman is committed to healthy forests forever, and continues to support landowner, forestry and logging personnel education.

To fulfill our responsibility as a commercial user and supplier of our valuable forest resource we support the following principles:

The use of Best Management Practices in all forest harvests. This practice implements specific utilization and plans for each harvest site to improve residual growth and regeneration for future generations to come.

We support the complete utilization of wood products and its residues. We will continue to work for effective ways to reduce waste and efficiently use our forest resources.

Timber harvests must consider complete environmental impact. Full consideration must be given to soil erosion, water quality and existing plant life for each harvest conducted.

Timber harvests must consider wildlife impact. Each harvest plan must consider the sustainability and improvement of existing wildlife habitat for future generations.

We will be actively involved and support education in the value and use of our forest resources. This includes employees, wood product users, landowners and the public.
