Community Activities

Bingaman and Son Lumber is a business partner with the Selinsgrove Area School District. For the last 7 years we have educated the school community on our PA forest impact in regard to sustainable growth and regeneration..

We have supplied the lumber and built over 1000 bluebird houses with students of the Selinsgrove Area School District (SASD).

We give Career Day lectures for the PA Career Link on the Wood Products Industry for potential candidates for employment.

Several members of our staff are board members of the Keystone Wood Products Association (KWPA). This non-profit organization has developed a DVD that is used to educate teachers in other school districts on the benefits of the Wood Products industry in PA. They have been on PA PBS.

We have been a United Way participant for the last 6 years (since 2003)

Our foresters provide Forest Stewardship plan writing for landowners requesting these services and free forestry advice with a forest walk-through if desired.

We sponsor at least once a year an American Red Cross Blood Drive

We donate sawdust for the community fair livestock barns and for the logger competitions each year.

For the past three years we have donated wood for plaques (140 pieces this year) for the Great Island Adventure Triathlon which is a local physical fitness competition.

BSL supports the annual Envirothon sponsored by the District Soil and Water Conservation office educating high school student on the local environmental issues of water quality and ecology.

BSL members serve on the Pennsylvania Forest Products Association board of directors.

We are active members of the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce.

For the past 6 years we have been a corporate sponsor and team participant in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
